Lyrics

Police knocked me down (x3)
in downtown Oakland where we camped out.
Police knocked me down (x3)
and threw a smoke-bomb into the crowd.
Chorus:
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas (x3)
from the bottom of my heart.
In Zuccotti Park (x3)
they threw our library in the dump.
In Zuccotti Park (x3)
they came to remove us when it was dark.
Chorus:
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas (x3)
from the bottom of my heart.
We asked them to stop (x3)
-- all the riot gear is over the top.
We asked them to stop (x3)
but they won't listen even when we shout.
Chorus:
I wanna wish you a Merry Christmas (x3)
from the bottom of my heart.

No, I wasn't actually at any of the Occupy protests; it's poetic license.
Also, this is me pre-transition.

Changes

  • 2011-12-26 belatedly realized that "down" in line 1 parallels the original better than "out", and also more accurately describes the action in the Occupy Oakland video I was able to find; also decided that "tried to remove us" should be changed to "came to remove us", leaving it ambiguous as to whether the removal attempt was successful. (The video was made before these changes.)
